I've been a musician most of my life and music has always been at the center, always driving me, taking my mind and emotions where I didn't know they could go. I haven't experienced anything as powerful, as moving and as satisfying as expression through music. I love that connection, and that so many others have that connection as well. This naturally led me in to the world of audio engineering, that though the music is what holds the power, the lens you focus it through is just as important. I began with cheap equipment, poor setups and an untrained ear recording myself and friends improvising and working through songs over 12 years ago and I'll never forget my instant love for audio engineering. Over the years the gear grew and improved, the mic locker and accessories expanded and the same things that makes great musicians has honed my recording, mixing and mastering skills- practice, passion and ambition. I will always feel the excitement and rush of hearing a song after the work has been put in, and I'm excited to put my skills and knowledge in to action on every project. So I hope we can be of service to you, and that you won't hesitate to reach out to us for more info.
JAMES CARR
ASSISTANT engineer, session musician(guitar/bass)
I have been a disciple of music my entire life. I've played guitar for going on 18 years, had a regiment of private lessons and an Associate Degree in Music from J. Sargent Reynolds Community College. Like Justin, I have seen the power of music, it's connections and it's potential for expression in the deepest of ways possible. As Justin began his journey of capturing the dynamics of incredible musical moments, I took my place along his side studying how to record, mix, master and ultimately produce these special moments. My role at White Noise Studio is to help Justin, and ultimately you, achieve his vision of high quality recordings and productions, acting as a session musician and assisting with the recording, mixing and mastering of productions. We hope that you can see our passion, share it and want to be a part of it!
I attended the Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music, where I majored in music composition and vocal performance. While there, I was active in 3 of the University's top choirs; the Conservatory Choir, the Chamber Choir, and the Shenandoah Singers vocal jazz ensemble. I performed as a soloist on a tour of Italy with the Conservatory Choir, and performed on the stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as well. After years of study in college, I brought my training in composition and performance to the local Richmond scene as a lead singer and lyricist for the band 'Caulit Anything'. I have spent many years passing on my love of music by teaching lessons in guitar, piano, and voice through the Shady Grove Center for Creative Arts, Guitar Center in Richmond, and in private lessons as well. I am truly passionate about helping gifted artists reach their potential by passing on his knowledge of music theory, vocal technique, and song writing.
